“Port blockade: 20 activists of Free Trieste – Trieste Libera are under investigation”
TRIESTE: THE PROSECUTION OFFICE INVESTIGATES 20 FREE TRIESTE ACTIVISTS AFTER THE 10 FEBRUARY 2014 DEMONSTRATION IN DEFENSE OF THE NORTHERN FREE PORT OF TRIESTE AND OF LEGALITY…
Source: local newspaper “Il Piccolo”.
A few days ago newspaper “Il Piccolo” announced with an uproar an investigation on both the front page and its posters (see picture above).
It seems that Deputy Public Prosecutor Federico Frezza is investigating 20 activists of the Free Trieste Movement for “blocking” the Northern Free Port after the Movement’s 10 February 2014 demonstration.
The demonstration follows the expiring of the Ultimatum for the Free Port. This is Free Trieste’s request (December 2013) that Italian authorities revert the suspension of the free zones and free port regime in the Northern Free Port. It was the Commissioner of the Government in Friuli Venezia Giulia, and Prefect of Trieste, Francesca Adelaide Garufi to suspend them, with an illegal act (LINK).
Why are we investigated?
Besides the obvious fact that publishing confidential news about ongoing investigations constitutes a crime even under Italian law (the investigated people should have received an indictment and then defend themselves, without bearing the prejudice of the press’ public condemnation), the demonstration in question, held by the citizens of Trieste, is a legitimate action in defense of legality.
The Questura (Office of the Chief of Police) and the local Italian judiciary protest the demonstration for alleged lack of authorizations, forgetting that the event was peaceful, and it took place in the international Free Port, a State Corporation of the Free Territory of Trieste.
Undertaking to administer the present-day Free Territory, the Italian Government committed to respect the Port’s boundaries (1954 MoU regarding the FTT). This means that the citizens who, on 10 February, stood in defense of the free zone of the Northern Free Port stood for the rule of law, to have the Italian Government honor its commitment to the primary administering Governments of the FTT: the Governments of the US and of the UK.
Standing for legality means exercising our rights and defending the rule of law.
All while the local Italian authorities, trample on the rule of law, planning to destroy the international Free Port of Trieste urbanizing the Northern sector with a massive housing speculation (under anti-mafia questions, even) and diverting its precious traffics to the Italian ports, especially to Southern Italy, where organized criminality is very influential.
It is interesting that even the judiciary intimidates, threatens, and attacks whoever opposes this illegal operation, worth billions of Euro, while the same judiciary allows the illegal, suffocating simulation of Italian sovereignty over the present-day Free Territory of Trieste.
Only the local nationalistic “Camorra” benefits from such intimidations: are the citizens of the FTT being trialed only to set Mafia free?
