WHY THE FREE TRIESTE MOVEMENT DOES NOT PARTECIPATE TO THE 25 APRIL DEMONSTRATION IN VENICE

Recalling its official position expressed on 14 April (2014), the Free Trieste Movement, which represents the legitimate interests of a relevant part of the population of the Free Territory of Trieste, recalls that when it comes to the problem of separatism in the Italian peninsula, especially in Veneto, the Movement’s standing is:

1) Different, reliable sources informed us that the unauthorized demonstration that is to take place on 25 April in Piazza San Marco, Venice, it is possible that the event is used (with the notorious techniques of the “strategy of tension”) by deviant, institutional environments and by the extremists liked to them, to commit provocations – even serious ones – which risk to cause the unfair involvement of both the peaceful pro-Veneto movements and of the pro-legality Free Trieste Movements, aiming at delegitimizing them and thus justify repressive actions.

2) We are about to forward this information also to competent, diplomatic and analysis centers.

3) The Free Trieste Movement, taking into account this reliable information, announces that its previously announced delegation won’t be in Venice, and this declares that nobody is authorized to represent the Movement in at the 25 April demonstration in Venice – or to any collateral events – not even releasing public statements or speeches, and nobody is authorized to use the symbols that identify the Movement (badges, logos as the one pictured below, flags, banners etc.).

4) The Free Trieste Movement confirms its solidarity to the movements in Veneto, as well to the other populations of the Italian peninsula which are peacefully and democratically for the recognition of their rights.
