The establishment of the International Provisional Representative of the Free Territory of Trieste
After 60 years, the citizens of the Free Territory of Trieste have a new, independent and legitimate international State Representative.
It is an important achievement, the result of Free Trieste’s hard work in the past four months. Four months of important actions in the legal, political, and diplomatic field.
It’s been years of intensive actions for the rights of the people and of the State we live in: the Free Territory of Trieste.
A State buried under years of propagandas. Yet, aware of our rights, we kept working, without giving up, despite serious environmental pressures, including serious intimidations and attempts of repression by the administering local Italian authorities.
They tried to divide us. They almost did. The illusion of an ephemeral power drove some of us in the enclosure. The local nationalistic camorra didn’t like so many “lost sheep”. The promise of a role, a remunerative office, was enough to drive certain people away from the stand for Trieste’s rights.
But this time is not like any other. In the past, Trieste’s hopes were cancelled by the complete surrender of its representative. There is no new Lista per Trieste here, and there is no room for compromises.
Free Trieste’s hard core stands still. No surrender, no compromises with those who violate our rights and their own laws.
And so, by virtue of indisputable legal acts, we made it to this historical 21 September 2015. This is a new beginning after a four-year work. It is a step forward for all the people of Trieste.
Now the way to the recognition of the Free Territory of Trieste’s rights is truly in the hands of its citizens. And this is the most beautiful news after years of struggle.
