LNG terminal: press conferences in Trieste on June 16th and in Ljubljana on June 23rd

On May 30th, the Italian Ministry of the Environment approved the construction of multinational company Gas Natural’s LNG terminal in the port of Trieste. Here, the majority of the people opposes the project, as does the bordering Republic of Slovenia.

On June 11th, the Italian Minister of Economic Development declared that his Government doesn’t want to carry out the project

On June 16th, at 11AM, Greenaction Transnational and international organization Alpe Adria Green are holding a press conference in Trieste, to summarize the Italian Government’s attempts to force the LNG terminal’s construction, the non-credibility of Italian politicians claiming this is untrue, and finally, about the strategies adopted in Trieste and in Slovenia to oppose the project.

The speakers are Franc Malečkar and Roberto Giurastante. The event is taking place at the Free Trieste Movement’s office, in piazza della Borsa 7 (1st floor).

On June 23rd, both organizations convene a press conference and a round table in Slovenia’s capital city, Ljubljana, and are inviting representatives of the port of Koper, of the Government of Slovenia, of the embassies accredited in Slovenia (especially the main users of the two ports: Austria, Hungary, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia) and international press correspondents.
